Baku-APA. UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly expressed Tuesday the UN concern about the rockets firing from Lebanon towards Israel and the consequent Israeli retaliation, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

In a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam, Plumbly said he raised the UN's concerns over the latest four rocket attacks fired from South Lebanon towards Israel over the past few days, as well as Israel's retaliatory bombing strikes against the country.

He said these actions are blatant violations of resolution 701, and are considered a dangerous threat to regional stability.

The UN official also stressed that the "UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is closely working with the Lebanese army to investigate these incidents and curb their recurrence."

He also called on all parties to show self-restraint, and to work with the UNIFIL in the implementation of resolution 1701 to prevent further escalation.

Plumbly noted that the UN Security Council remained united in its support for Lebanon's sovereignty, security, and stability.
