U.S., partners continue airstrikes against IS in Syria, Iraq

Baku-APA. U.S. and partner-nation military forces have conducted a total of 23 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) forces in Syria and Iraq over the past two days, the U.S. Defense Department said on Wednesday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

According to a DOD statement, 13 airstrikes were conducted near Kobani, Abu Kamal and Raqqah in Syria, destroying nine IS tactical units, eight IS staging positions, 13 IS fighting positions and two IS vehicles, an IS weapon cache and an IS guard facility, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the international military forces conducted 10 airstrikes in six regions including Mosul, Qaim, Ramadi, Asad and Beiji across Iraq, destroying two IS logistic routes, four IS vehicles, 12 IS buildings, four IS heavy weapons, five IS road crossings, two IS bunkers, five IS tactical units, an IS checkpoint, an IS bridge and an IS shipping container.

Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the U.S. , Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include the U.S., Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
