Baku-APA. At least six members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the country's largest rebel group, were killed in an Air Force bombing raid on its camp in central Meta department, police said Friday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Four mid-level commanders were among the dead.

"A joint operation killed six guerrillas of the 53rd Front, including Franky Giovany Lozano Vega, alias 'Yeison Machaco,' identified as leading the blackmailing and intimidation of civilians, shop owners, industrialists, cattle ranchers and transportation workers in the country's central and eastern regions," a report issued by police said.

"The Air Force bombarded the camp located along the La Esmeralda trail, in the rural zone of El Castillo (Meta), then army commandos quickly occupied the site. Following the fighting, bodies of six terrorists were found," police said.

Colombian officials commonly refer to the armed leftist rebels as terrorists.

Police said authorities seized weapons, as well as USBs and hard drives with information on a number of victims of extortion, and information on the FARC's Eastern Bloc.

The government and the FARC have been in peace talks for nearly two years to try to end their five-decade conflict, but fighting between the two sides has never ceased.
