Baku-APA. Russia Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Saturday to discuss the internal political crisis in Ukraine and the growing terrorist threat from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, the Foreign Ministry said, APA reports quoting Ä°TAR-TASS.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 69th session of the U.N. General Assembly now underway in New York.
Lavrov and Ban “discussed the situation in Ukraine in the context of the internal political crisis in that country and stated that there was no alternative to a political and diplomatic solution”, the ministry said.
