The so-called "2+2" meeting between Secretary of State John Kerry and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and their ROK counterparts Yun Byung-se and Han Min-koo is aimed at further strengthening the alliance and "advancing our bilateral partnership on regional and global affairs," the department said in a statement.
Hagel is scheduled to meet with Han at the Pentagon on Thursday afternoon to co-chair an annual Security Consultative Meeting, ROK 's Defense Ministry said on Monday.
During President Barack Obama's ROK trip in April, the two countries announced their intent to hold another "2+2" meeting this year, following those in 2010 and 2012.
