Baku – APA. U.S. President Barack Obama announced that an economic blockade has been imposed on Russia-annexed Crimea. Barack Obama told a press conference at the White House that he has issued an executive order in this regard.

“Today, I signed an order defining further measures on the situation in Ukraine. It forbids trade of goods, technology, and services, imports from Crimea, and U.S. investments in Crimea. The executive order also authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to impose sanctions on individuals and entities operating in Crimea”.

Barack Obama again accused Russia of its occupation and attempted annexation of Crimea as well as its support to separatists in eastern Ukraine: “The order is intended to provide clarity to United States corporations doing business in the region and reaffirm that the United States will not accept Russia’s occupation and attempted annexation of Crimea. I again call on Russia to cease its support to separatists in eastern Ukraine, and fulfill its commitments under the Minsk agreements”.

Note that, the U.S. has added new persons to the list of Russian and Ukrainian citizens on whom it imposed sanctions for violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. According to the US Treasury Department, Crimean Prosecutor Natalia Poklonskaya, Crimea’s Deputy Interior Minister Dmitry Neklyudov, Russian businessman Konstantin Malofeyev, chief of the Night Wolves biker club, Vladimir Putin’s friend Alexander Zaldostanov as well as representatives of the separatist people's republics of Luhansk (LPR) and Donetsk (DPR) are included on the sanctions list.
