Baku-APA. The UN Security Council on Thursday condemned "in the strongest terms" the attack on a British embassy vehicle in Kabul, Afghanistan, APA reports quoing Xinhua.
"The members of the Security Council expressed their deep sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, and to the people and government of Afghanistan and the people and government of the United Kingdom," said a press statement.
One British citizen and four Afghan bystanders were killed and 33 others injured after a suicide bombing hit a British embassy's armored vehicle.
The Taliban insurgent group fighting the government claimed the responsibility for the attack shortly after the blast.
Expressing their "serious" concern at the threats posed by the Taliban, al-Qaida and other terrorist and extremist groups, the Security Council urged all states to cooperate actively with the Afghan authorities to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of those acts of terrorism to justice.
"The members of the Security Council reiterated that no terrorist act can reverse the path toward Afghan-led peace, democracy and stability in Afghanistan, which is supported by the people and the government of Afghanistan and by the international community," said the statement.
