The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said they found the suspect dead after trailing him to an unoccupied home in a rural area in the city of St. Albert in the east of Alberta on Saturday.
The RCMP has not disclosed the reason why the suspect was dead. However, the police claimed, they had not spoken with the suspect or fired at him while trying to arrest him.
The two police officers who had been shot are seriously injured and hospitalized. One of them is in a grave life-threatening condition.
The incident happened earlier on Saturday in the city of Edmonton in Alberta when the police officers were carrying out a routine check on a suspicious stolen vehicle. The cops came under fire as soon as they entered a casino hunting for the suspect.
The suspect has been tentatively identified by the police. However, the information still needs to be confirmed.
