The Washington administration has almost completely used the $400 million previously allocated by Congress for military aid to Ukraine. Senator Chris Coons (D-Delaware) told reporters at The Washington Sun, APA reports.
The lawmaker noted that a Defense Department representative informed him on Tuesday that 99.8% of these funds were earmarked for specific expenditures. The Pentagon has not yet responded to TASS's request to confirm this information. The administration previously committed to spending the funds allocated for military aid to Kyiv by the end of the current fiscal year, which ends on September 30.
Coons criticized the Pentagon for using the funds at the last minute and failing to inform Congress in a timely manner. "The fact that they did it at the last minute says a lot about their attitude," the senator said.
According to media reports, this military aid package to Kyiv will include $200 million in weapons, $100 million in equipment spare parts, and $100 million in equipment transportation services. According to Reuters , it will not include interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems, which Ukraine requested.
