United States President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the war with Iran would end soon, arguing that Tehran had been severely weakened, APA reports.
"We are going to have that war very quickly, one way or the other," Trump said while hosting a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at the White House. He claimed Iran had been "virtually destroyed," adding that its economy was struggling and its air defenses were largely gone.
Trump also said the US has "almost total control" of the Strait of Hormuz, though he acknowledged that mines are sometimes dropped in the waterway and disrupt operations. He added that there had been "historic flows of oil out of Hormuz in the last three days" and said "you will see things happening very soon" in the conflict with Iran.
