The UN Security Council discussed the situation around the Gaza Strip, but did not try to adopt any common document at this stage, APA reports citing TASS.
"We did not discuss a general statement," Malta's permanent representative to the UN, Vanessa Frazier, told reporters.
She added that the discussion was about what the parties can do in the current situation to protect civilians and stop violence.
Deputy US Representative to the UN Robert Wood noted that "members of the Security Council agreed that these attacks should not have happened."
"Let's hope the situation doesn't get worse. We'll do everything we can to prevent it from spreading," Wood added.

The United Nations Security Council is holding an emergency session dedicated to the escalation of the Palestine-Israel conflict, Dmitry Polyansky, the First Deputy of the Permanent Representative of Russia in the institution, said on his Telegram channel, APA reports.
The session started at 3:00 PM New York time.
