US President Donald Trump doubled down on his intention to continue airstrikes against Iranian targets and warned of further heavy military actions following a breakdown in a temporary regional lull, APA reports.
"It was a very heavy attack last night. And we're prepared to do another one any time we want," Trump said when asked how long the renewed campaign could last, given that the resumption of US strikes on Iran pushed oil prices toward $95 a barrel.
Trump said the duration of the military operation "doesn't matter," while adding that he did not expect it to continue "too long." The latest strikes followed US attacks on Sunday that ended a month-long pause in military action, reigniting tensions in the region and raising concerns over oil supplies.
