United States President Donald Trump instructed the military not to attack Iran on Friday, Axios reported on Saturday, citing two sources with knowledge of the matter, APA reports.
For the past two weeks, Trump received strike plans submitted by the military and approved them. On Friday, he received the same plans, but decided to order the military to suspend them, according to the report. It is still unclear whether the president's order on Friday was a one-time exception or whether this truce will continue.
Trump decided to suspend the strikes several hours after a delegation from Oman arrived in Iran for new negotiations on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the report added. Two regional sources told the same outlet that there has been progress in the talks and that Iran and Oman could reach a deal over the weekend.
