U.S. President Donald Trump told in interview with Fox News that Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz and that the United States is the one in control.
"Iran does not control the strait. We control the strait. They can make things difficult by laying a few mines. But we control the strait," Trump said.
The U.S. president noted that Washington had previously lifted the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, but restrictions were reimposed after Iran violated the terms of the agreement.
"We lifted the blockade, then they violated the agreement and we put it back. We can no longer tolerate them violating agreements," Trump added.
