US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday to begin the process of establishing a new US Space Academy, aimed at preparing personnel for the country's space goals, APA reports.
Trump said the academy will train service members, engineers and civilian operators as the US pursues missions to the moon and beyond. The institution is expected to serve the US Space Force, NASA and the commercial space industry.
Trump said the academy would attract and graduate the nation's top talent and emphasized that it should be comparable to existing military academies, including West Point and the Air Force Academy. He added that a location would be selected soon.
