US President Donald Trump announced that he has decided to increase tariffs on Canadian goods by another 10%, APA reports.
"Due to serious misrepresentation and hostile actions on their part, I am raising the tariff on Canada by 10% above what they are currently paying," he wrote in Truth Social.
The White House chief noted that Canadian authorities commissioned the airing in the United States of a promotional video featuring excerpts from a speech by 40th US President Ronald Reagan, in which he criticized tariffs and defended the principles of free trade. Trump claimed that the video and audio clips were deliberately selected to create a false impression. He added, however, that Canada had neither received nor requested permission to alter Reagan's speech.
"The sole purpose of this scam was Canada's hope that the U.S. Supreme Court would come to its aid over tariffs it had used for years to hurt the United States," Trump added.
