Reports that Venezuela’s Defense Minister Padrino López was killed as a result of US air strikes have turned out to be false, APA reports, citing foreign media.

Padrino López released a video address, stating that they would not surrender and would achieve victory.

Venezuela’s Defence Minister has announced an immediate deployment of military forces across the country.

Speaking in Spanish in a video address, Vladimir Padrino López called for a united front of resistance in the face of "the worst aggression" ever against Venezuela, adding that Venezuela was following “Maduro’s orders” that all armed forces will be deployed.

"They've attacked us but they will not subdue us," says the defence minister.

It has also been announced that Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez survived the air strikes.

She is reported to assume the duties of president.

Reports have emerged that Venezuela’s Defense Minister Padrino López has died as a result of US air strikes, RIA Novosti reported, citing local media, APA reports.

Earlier, reports had circulated about strikes on the defense minister’s residence. The death of Padrino López has not yet been officially confirmed.

After the strikes, the whereabouts of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro are also currently unknown.

Residents of the capital are leaving Caracas en masse. Long traffic jams have been observed at the exits of the city.
