Canada is looking to take part in the European Union's €90 billion loan to Ukraine, APA reports citing Financial Times.
The size of the contribution has not been determined yet, but sources familiar with the matter said the two sides aim for an agreement before the EU-Canada summit in Montreal in late October.
An unnamed EU official told the newspaper that the union is working toward "the closest possible relationship" with Canada. However, another official stated that the EU should "be realistic and pragmatic and manage Canada’s expectations," warning that Canada cannot get the same status as countries that contribute to the union's budget, such as Norway and Switzerland.
