The $300-million military aid package for Ukraine, announced by the US Administration on Tuesday, is insufficient, US President Joe Biden said ahead of the meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the White House, APA reports.
"Today, the United States is announcing an emergency package for Ukraine using cost savings from the previously approved Pentagon contracts. The package includes munitions and rounds […], which I have the authority to do without asking the Congress for more money," the head of state said.
He noted that, last year, he addressed the US lawmakers, demanding to approve additional aid for Ukraine.
"I asked for a lot more money. And so it is not nearly enough, what we are announcing today. Congress must pass the bipartisan national security bill now, which includes emergency funding for Ukraine," the US leader said.
"We must act before it is literally too late," Biden claimed, adding that the US’ obligations before Poland is unshakeable.
Duda, who spoke after Biden, called on NATO member states to increase their defense spending to 3% of their GDP.
