Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu – APA-Economics. Coca-Cola is poised to axe over 1,500 jobs in a bid to cut costs.

The Atlanta-based beverage company said it had begun notifying workers in the US and some international locations on Thursday.

Coca-Cola said it planned to slash costs by $3 billion a year through a variety of measures. It said the savings would be used to help fund the stepped-up marketing it believes is needed to drive up sales.

Company’s Azerbaijan-based office Azerbaijan Coca-Cola Bottlers commented on the issue. The company said that it improves and simplifies its organization in order to accelerate global business growth within the declared initiative.

This process will also influence jobs: “Between 1,600 and 1,800 employees are expected to lose their jobs in coca-Cola International and Coca-Cola North America. This is about 13,000 jobs. ”

Company said that productivity is the permanent process of the company: “we’ll seek ways to increase efficiency and stimulation of this increase. Job cuts will not be realized in Azerbaijan Coca-Cola Bottlers. Currently, there are over 550 employees in Azerbaijan Coca-Cola Bottlers”.
