Azerbaijan awarded with FAO special prize

According to him, 20 countries achieved the objectives of the first of “The Millennium Development Goals” adopted at the UN General Assembly in 2000 with the participation of 185 countries – “reducing hunger by half” and 18 countries achieved both this goal and “reduction by half of the proportion of people suffering from hunger” adopted at the World Food Summit in Rome, 1996 with the participation of 180 countries. Azerbaijan is also among these 18 countries.

 

Sinaceur stressed that this prize is the result of advisable policy of President Ilham Aliyev. As a part of the FAO conference in Rome on June 15-22, a special event will be held on June 16 to celebrate the achievements of 38 countries in this regard. FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva will present a special prize to the heads or officials of these countries. Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abbasov will represent Azerbaijan at this event.
