This index in Azerbaijan is 75 grams, said the spokesman of Ministry of Agriculture Chingiz Farajov: “This is an abnormal index. The meat consumption must increase in the country”.
He says in 2012, Azerbaijan produced 117,000 tonnes of beef, 80,000 tonnes of mutton, 4,000 tonnes of pork and 87,000 tonnes of fowl-flesh.
Farajov noted that in accordance with the world health norm, every person must consume 73 kg of meat throughout a year: “However, according to minimum consumption basket, every person has consumed 20.5 kg of meat in Azerbaijan”.
