State Statistical Committee says spring-field works continued in April and as of May 1, spring plants were sown in 262,500 hectares, as well as cereals and leguminous plants – in 23,400 hectares, corn – in 18,800 hectares, potato – in 55,600 hectares, vegetable – in 52,600 ha, cotton-seed – in 19,100 ha, sugar beet – in 3,600 ha, sunflower – in 6,300 ha and tobacco – in 766 ha.
Meat in live weight rose 2.5% to 141,100 tonnes, milk – 5.8% to 557,900 tonnes, eggs – 15% to 442.3 mln.
At the same time, 41,500 tonnes vegetables and 5,200 tonnes of potato were produced during the reporting period, up 14% and 18.9% from previous year.
