Azerbaijan develops international cooperation in agriculture

Baku – APA-Economics. Azerbaijani Minister of Agriculture Ismet Abbasov, who is on a visit to France to attend the 50^th international agriculture exhibition, met with Michel Nalet Executive Director of Lactalis Company, which is specialized in milk production.

MInistr says the sides exchanged opinions on joint cooperation in increase of milk production and milk processing. For concrete cooperation, Abbasov invited representatives of the company to Azerbaijan.

Abbasov also met with Director General of World Organization for Animal Health Bernard Vallat and discussed issues meeting conformity of law about veterinary and existing normative-legal act to requirements of this organization. At the same time, reconsideration of norms required for participation of race horses in international competitions and joint cooperation in this sphere. The sides came to agreement on sending of specialists to Azerbaijan to provide practical support.

Moreover, Abbasov met with Ringolds Arnitis, Director General of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO). Satisfaction was expressed of the general situation of cooperation between Azerbaijan and EPPO. The meeting discussed joint activity with EPPO for strengthening of Azerbaijan’s opportunities in plant protection and phytosanitary.

At the meeting with Federico Castellucci, Director General of International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV), the sides exchanged views on Azerbaijan’s chances to become member of the organization. Federico Castellucci noted that Azerbaijan would be officially accepted to the organization in June of 2013.
