Azerbaijan and France expand cooperation in agriculture

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev – APA-Economics. Within the framework of his visit to France, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abbasov attended the opening of pavilion of Burgundy region and met with president of Supreme Council of Burgundy region and city mayors.

According to APA-Economics, I.Abbasov got acquainted with various agricultural and food products.

Thereafter, the minister met with Stéphane Le Foll, French Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forest. At the meeting, Abbasov spoke about wide conditions for expansion of relations in all spheres, including agriculture.

In turn, Le Foll offered to establish cooperation in agroecology.

Import of French cattle to Azerbaijan, scientific-research institutions specialized in agriculture, establishment of cooperation relations between Azerbaijan State Agricultural University and relevant education enterprise of France and signing of memorandums of understanding between universities were discussed at the meeting. Minister Abbasov invited his French counterpart Stéphane Le Foll to the 2nd Wine Festival to be held in November, Azerbaijan.

Besides, Abbasov met with Fabien Bova, Director-General of FranceAgriMer organization, which was specialized in agrarian science. The sides discussed establishment of cooperation relations between agriculture research institutions under the Agrarian Scientific Center (ASC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and the organizations under FranceAgriMer, especially signing of protocol of intention on cooperation between the Azerbaijan Scientific-Research Institute of viticulture and winemaking and French Institute for Vineyards and Wine during the 2nd Wine Festival to be held in November, Azerbaijan. In this context, Abbasov underlined importance of French efforts in supporting Azerbaijan’s membership to the International Organization of Vine and Wine.
