Agriculture in Azerbaijan is one of the most strategic fields with significant potential for progress. In particular, it is necessary to reveal the main potential of agriculture in the liberated Garabagh, Muhammad Nasar Hayat, the head of the Partnership and Coordination Office (FAO) of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization in Azerbaijan, told APA.

According to him, currently, agriculture accounts for 10 percent of the total GDP: "FAO supports the Azerbaijan government in the formation of long-term strategies and policies to make agricultural products more productive. There is a great need for sustainable management in agriculture. Because due to sustainable management, when products are obtained, existing resources are not harmed, and they are not destroyed. Because the generations after us need the same resources we use, we must conserve them."

He noted that although Azerbaijan has land resources, there are certain concerns in this regard: "We must pay special heed to the preservation of useful land areas. If we use effective tools, then we will prevent the degradation of the resources we have."
