"137 million people worldwide live in hunger," Viorel Gutu, Assistant Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Europe and Central Asia, said during his speech at the "Baku Harmoniya Climate Initiative for Farmers" event within the framework of COP29, APA reports.
He emphasized that, in this context, numerous calls regarding food systems play a key role. The current funding allocated to the food sector is insufficient and has dropped to below 37%.
"We hope that the 'Baku Harmony Climate Initiative for Farmers' will catalyze climate finance and help achieve this goal," he added.
