UN Food and Agriculture Organization launches National Medium Term Priority Framework for Azerbaijan

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA-Economics. The Government of Azerbaijan and the Representation of the United Nationsâ€™ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Azerbaijan are launching the National Medium Term Priority Framework (NMTPF).
The overall aim of this launching event is to inform national and international stakeholders active in the agriculture and rural sector - including forestry and fisheries - regarding the process of preparing such a framework and obtain their interest and active participation.
The National Medium Term Priority Framework (NMTPF) for Azerbaijan will consist of a brief analysis of the situation in the country and, based on stakeholdersâ€™ consultations with national and international actors will outline the priority activities for FAOâ€™s possible assistance to the country for duration of three to four years.
Objectives of the preparation of NMTPF are to enhance effectiveness and coherence of the countryâ€™s activities; strategic prioritization of FAOâ€™s contribution (prioritization of development priorities within FAO mandate; Prioritization of major needs and opportunities to focus on impact areas); strengthen and further develop partnerships in view of multiplier effect, avoid duplication and increase of resources. It will contribute to constituency building and awareness rising about FAO activities; support resource mobilization for food security and agricultural development for the country and enhance resource mobilization for FAO field programme; it is FAOâ€™s contribution into the process of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF). The participants represent all concerned governmental organizations including Cabinet of Ministers, Ministries of Agriculture, Ecology and Natural Resources, Economic Development, Research Institutions, international agencies, NGOs and private sector.
