Azerbaijan is developing an action plan to promote winemaking

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. The Government of Azerbaijan is developing a plan of action for the development of winemaking in the country.
The Ministry of Agriculture, said the plan envisions increasing the production, providing certain benefits to grape producers, offering the necessary medicines at discount, the importation of new grape varieties.
At the same time, it is slated to provide wine makers tax and customs privileges for the importation of new technologies.
During the first 9 months of 2008 Azerbaijan produced 486 300 decaliters of vodka, 605 000 decaliters of wine, 15 300 decaliters of champagne, 3 166 900 decaliters of beer.
There are 44 alcoholic beverages makers, 35 breweries and 1 cigarette maker.
