Azerbaijan to offer farmers incentives

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture plans to implement comprehensive measures aimed at introducing benefits and incentives for the development of the agricultural sector.
The ministry said the issue is being discussed at the government.
The Ministry said the measures include the zoning and breeding of new varieties of agricultural products, promotion of export of potatoes, vegetables and melons, public support for seed production, the introduction of a mechanism of financial incentives for grain producers, improvement of the rules for government-insured risks in agricultural production, discount sale of minerals fertilizers to farmers, etc.
In addition, it is planned to introduce measures to stimulate the development of livestock and poultry.
These measures are part of the State Program for Reliable Supply of Food in Azerbaijan in 2008-2015.
