Azerbaijan negotiates with foreign flour producers to stimulate grain purchase in the country

Sheki. APA- Nijat Mustafayev. Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economic Development has held a meeting with local farmers in Sheki.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Turkish flour maker Fatoghlu.
The meeting was intended to stimulate grain purchase from local farmers.
Sevinj Hasanova, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, said 2.3 million tons of grain (excluding corn), including 1.6 million tons of wheat was harvested this year.
During this year 211 000 tons of grain, including 145 000 tons of wheat was produced in Sheki.
According to her, farmers have difficulties in selling their harvest.
“The ministry is negotiating with foreign flour making companies to accelerate the purchase of grain from farmers. Fatoghlu has already reached agreement with farmers to buy their wheat,” she added.
The farmers will be paid 27-30 kopecks per kilo of wheat depending on its quality.
The produced flour will be use for domestic consumption.
