Production of animal products increased in Azerbaijan

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov â€“ APA-Economics. Azerbaijan exported crop products worth $54.1mln. and animal products worth $6.3mln. in January-May this year, Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abbasov said at the governmentâ€™s meeting on the outcomes of the first half year, APA-Economics reports. The minister said the figures rose $13.9mln. and $2.9mln. respectively from last year. Ismat Abasov noted that meat production rose by 1.9%, milk production by 2.7%, egg production by 13.1% and wool production by 3.1% in Azerbaijan in the first half year. The minister said in order to improve wheat supply of the population there was a need for 136,400 tons of reproductive seeds to grow wheat in 620,000ha area.
Ismat Abasov said that 565 grain harvesters, 1578 tractors, 120 excavators, 21 technological equipment, 4396 other agricultural machines and 161,000 tons of mineral fertilizers had been brought to the country by Agroleasing since 2005.
