Azerbaijan predicted to hit record number in grain production this year

To him, if in 2011, Azerbaijan produced 2.6 mln tons of grain, this year, initially it is predicted to produce 2.7 mln tons. In case of necessary fertilization and irrigation works in the fields, annual production capacity can grew by 33.3%, up 34.6% compared to last year and hit 3.6 mln tons.

The minister noted that if the farmers conduct necessary fertilization works in accordance with the demand, then, productivity for 1 ha area will increase by 10 centners and rise from the current 25 centners up to 35 centners. If we take into account that total grain fields are 900,000 ha, it is possible to increase annual production capacity by 900,000 tons.

Remind that, the highest grain production was recorded in 2007 (3 mln tons).
