Azerbaijan decreases grain and potato productions
According to State Statistical Committee, the production on plant-growing production has decreased by 8.9%, on animal produce increased by 6.1% during the period of report. The growth rate on other spheres of plant-growing (excluding grain and potato) made 3.4%, on common production – 5%.
Besides, 2 000.9 thousand tons of grain production was gathered from 966.7 thousand ha area (20.7 metric centner from each ha) in 2010, down 33% compared to 2009.
Raw cotton production soared 17% to 37.3 thousand. The main reason of the growth was the increase of sowing area from 20.6 thousand ha to 30.2 thousand ha.
The tobacco production has increased by 24.3% to 3.2 thousand tons. This was caused by increase of sowing are by 12.6%.
At the same time, sugar beet for processing was sowed in 8.5 thousand ha area and 256.5 thousand tons of sugar beet have been gathered. Sugar beet production increased by 33.6% to 65 000 tons, compared to 2009.
953.7 thousand of potato, 1 181.1 tons of vegetable have been gathered in the period of report. Potato production decreased by 3%, vegetable rose 0.2%. Melon production soared 5.5% to 433.5 thousand tons, the average productivity of hectare on potato dropped 4 metric centner.
Besides, 729.3 thousand tons of fruit and berry, 129.5 thousand tons of grape have been produced in 2010, up 1.5% and 0.3% compared to 2009.
Green tea leaves production rose 22% to 545 tons.
