Azerbaijani President participates in groundbreaking ceremony of Gusar-1 hydropower plant

Chairman of Azerenerji OJSC Etibar Pirverdiyev attending the ceremony said that under the executive order issued by President on November 16, 2009, Azerenerji was commissioned to prepare special programs for the large application of small hydropower plants in the republic. The construction of small hydropower plants makes it available to save on the production of energy and make the environment healthier. The head of state was informed about the main components of the project. It includes special water pond, 3 pumps, turbine house, 3 water turbines and hydrogenerator, 10 kW substation and power lines.
The construction is expected to finish in the second half of 2011. The construction will be carried out by local Azenco company.

As a result of the implementation of the project, the hydropower plant will produce 7 million kWh electricity a year.
