Georgia’s major winemakers to resume exports to Azerbaijan

Tbilisi. Nino Zhvania - APA. Georgia’s leading winemakers will resume exports to Azerbaijan in 2010 after a break of 2-3 years.

Georgian winemaker Teliani Valley’s PR manager Tea Tuashvili told APA’s correspondent that that the winery supplied its products to Azerbaijan until 2007.

"However, exports were suspended later after an Azeri firm engaged in wine import was closed down. We are interested to expand our market reach and will try to restore exports to Azerbaijan in 2010,” he added.

He note that Teliani Valley exports wine to more than 20 countries, among them Ukraine, Baltic States, Belarus, Sweden, Holland, Germany, USA, Canada, the United Kingdom and Singapore.

In his words, the company sold $2 million worth of products in 2009.

Alaverdi, Tbilisi Marani and Badagoni also told APA’s correspondent that they are interested in resuming exports to Azerbaijan.
