Azerbaijan approves new rules for apiaries

Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-ECONOMICS. The Government of Azerbaijan has approved a number of regulations concerning the apiaries.

The approved documents are “Rules placing apiaries away from the medical, educational and cultural institutions in order to ensure public safety" and "Rules for production, use, and transportation of bee products and bee-keeping raw material which are used to protect public health and other spheres”.

According to the rules, the apiary should be located in 1-3 km away from densely populated settlements, 5 km from the chemical and confectionery businesses, 1.5 km from the medical, educational and cultural institutions, and 1 km away from livestock and poultry farms.

The apiaries of 5-20 hives within the green areas of the city are permitted only when there are 2 meters high partitions in place. Children under 16 years are prohibited to enter the apiary zone unattended.
