Azerbaijan-Germany Agro-Economic Forum held in Baku

Baku. Nijat Mustafayev - APA-ECONOMICS. Germany- Azerbaijan Economic Association (DAFW) held the first Azerbaijan-Germany Agro-Economic Forum and Cooperation Exchange in Baku, October 5, 2009.

DAFW said a senior officer at the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection led a delegation of businessmen to the event.

Germany’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Per Stanchina hailed Azerbaijanâ€™s high economic performance in the face of global economic crisis, describing the energy-rich country as bridge between Asia and Europe.

In his words, foodstuff trade turnover between the two countries increased to â‚¬89 million in 2008 from â‚¬10.3 million in 2001.

Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Agriculture Bahram Aliyev briefed German businessmen of agricultural development in the country.

In addition, the event will be joined by more than 20 German and about 100 Azerbaijani companies operating in the field of agriculture. The businessmen held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the forum.
