Baku. Rashad Suleymanov - APA-Economics. Azerbaijan might get the next batch of pedigreed cows from Germany by the year-end, said the Ministry of Agriculture.

The ministry attributed the delay to thew fact that the funds for purchase of cows have not been transferred to the account of AgroLeasing Company yet.

The cows are being delivered by a British firm Rista Alliance which won a tender from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Agriculture.

Under the terms of the tender, Rista Alliance will deliver 300 head of Shvis cattle, 500 Holstein-Friesian black-and-white dairy cows and 200 Simmental cows within 120 days.

While distributing cows in the country, priority will be given to the experience and keeping conditions of farmers.

It is planned to buy 4 000 to 5 000 head of pedigree cattle through government funds.

The government finances 50% of the price of cows, and farmers will pay 25% of the price in advance and the remaining 25% in installments within three years.
A cow bought from Germany costs AZN 3 600 to AZN 3 800.
