Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Samad Seyidov commented on Sunna Thorhildur Aevarsdottir’s appointment as rapporteur on the preparation of a report, titled “political prisoners in Azerbaijan”, by the Assembly’s Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights on June 26.
Seyidov informed an APA correspondent in Strasbourg that he had a conversation with the new rapporteur.
"We told her that if she comes to Azerbaijan with the aim of protecting human rights, she is welcome but that if she wants to use human rights as a tool of pressure on Azerbaijan, then this is impossible. I’ve talked with the rapporteur on this topic. I’m sure that we will continue our work on this issue,” he added.
