Presidential election starts at Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Istanbul

The polling station opened at Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Istanbul at 7:00 local time (8:00 Baku time) as the country’s citizens start casting ballots in the presidential election.

Azerbaijani citizens registered at the Consulate, residing and working in the Consulate General’s service areas, Istanbul, Bursa, Edirne, Izmir, Antalya and other provinces are taking part in the voting, APA’s Turkey bureau reports.

906 Azerbaijani citizens have been registered in the Consulate's service area, Azerbaijani Consul General Masim Hajiyev told APA.

Voting at Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Istanbul will end at 07:00 PM local time.

Protocols and ballot papers will be submitted to Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission within a few days.

Voting in Azerbaijan’s presidential election started at 08:00.

Eight candidates are participating in the election. Six candidates were nominated from political parties, one is self-nominated, and one candidate nominated from the Initiative Group.

Also, web cameras were installed in 1,000 polling stations in 119 electoral districts.

Moreover, 894 international (61 organizations, 59 countries) and 58,175 local observers monitor the election.

The voting will end at 19:00.
