There are estimated to be at least 80 casualties across the earthquake’s three worst-hit provinces of Papua New Guinea, but the number is expected to climb as teams reached cut off areas said the director of the International Red Cross in PNG, Udaya Regmi, APA reported citing New Zealand radio.

Udaya Regmi informed that the quake destroyed or damaged the homes of around 7000 people, while 147,000 were in severe need of food, water and sanitation.

The Highlands region had been badly damaged by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake a week ago, but the region continues to be rattled by aftershocks, including a magnitude 6 on the morning of March 4.
