Security forces capture 2 PKK terrorists in SE Turkey

Turkish security forces apprehended two PKK terrorists at a checkpoint in southeastern Diyarbakir province, said an official statement on Saturday, APA reports quoting Anadolu.

According to the statement issued by Diyarbakir Governor's Office, one terrorist was female and two collaborators were also held during the road check carried out in Ergani district of the province.

In addition, one Kalashnikov rifle with five chargers, 149 cartridges, and two hand grenades were also seized with the terrorists.

In separate, the security forces seized two pistols with four chargers, 59 cartridges, night-vision binoculars, walkie-talkies in Diyarbakir's Hani district. Also, two improvised explosives were destroyed and 11,290 cannabis roots seized in an anti-narcotics operation in Lice district, the statement added.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including women and children.
