South Korea will act against the North if it continues its provocations, the Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff spokesman warned Thursday, after Pyongyang said it was considering hitting waters near a US island, APA reports quoting sputniknews.

Army Col. Roh Jae-cheon said the North would face "strong and resolute retaliation" from the United States and the South if it ignored their warnings, according to South Korea’s news agency Yonhap.

Rhetoric heated up this week after US President Donald Trump warned Pyongyang it would face "fire and fury" if it did not stop making threats against Washington. The North responded by threatening to launch four ballistic missiles toward the US Pacific territory of Guam, which hosts several military bases.
