Capital investment in Azerbaijan’s economy declined in 2016, World Economic Situation and Prospects 2017 reported.

The UN experts say investment environment weakened in several CIS countries, particularly in Azerbaijan, Belarus and Moldova, in 2016.

According to the UN, sanctions against Russia negatively affected its investment prospectus and limits access to capital market. This process also negatively influenced money transfers from Russia to neighbouring countries. Revenues decline in countries, which depend on money transfers from Russia.

However, economies of UN member countries are stable after economic shocks observed in 2014-2015. The experts say the economic activity in CIS region will grow 1.4% in 2017, 2% in 2018.
