Sixth Moscow conference on int’l security kicks off

The 6th Moscow Conference on International Security “Global Security: Challenges of the 21st century” kicked off on April 26.

The two-day conference will discuss the fight against terrorism, security problems in Europe and the Middle East, and the situation in the Asia-Pacific region and Central Asia, APA’s Moscow correspondent reported.

Information security, as well as the problem of missile defense will also be considered during the conference.

The event is attended by defense ministers and experts from 86 countries, as well as heads of the international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, CIS, and CSTO.

Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Head of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov attended the opening of the conference.

Patrushev read out President Putin’s congratulatory message to the forum participants.

Then, Shoygu, Lavrov, and Bortnikov delivered their reporting speeches, reiterating Russia’s position with regard to international security issues.

It should be noted that Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry also has representatives attending the conference.
