Russia’s FSB detains over 1,400 trespassers in joint op with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan

Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has said in a statement that it has detained over 1,400 trespassers in the Caspian basin in a joint operation with Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

“Furthermore, more than 170 small-size boats were detained, over 635 meters of web were seized, and the illegal trafficking of over 15 tons of biological resources were prevented,” reads the statement.

The actions were taken from April 15 to May 15 and from August 30 to October 31, as part of the implementation of the action plan on meeting Russia’s strategic interests in the Caspian region. The operations were also joined by Kazakhstan’s Border Service of the National Security Committee and Azerbaijan’s State Security Service.
