Though the government held a preliminary discussion on this proposal early this year, the discussions were delayed due to the problems regarding substantiation of some issues.
The proposal will be resubmitted for discussion, because controversial issues have already been solved.
After the process of substantiation by the government, the proposals will be submitted to the Presidential Administration and parliament with the view of making amendments to the current legislation.
The proposals reflect the issue of increasing the conscription age to 19 year. But it was noted that the best option is to increase it up to 20 years.
At present, the draft age in Azerbaijan is 18.
