Baku-APA. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said Turkey is prepared to bring Iraqi President Jalal Talabani to a hospital in Turkey after he suffered a heart attack, APA reports quoting Today's Zaman.
Erdoğan addressed speculations surrounding the health of Iraqi President Talabani and dismissed news reports suggesting the Iraqi president could be dead. He said that was not the case and that Turkey has offered to help the Iraqi side, if needed.
"We told them that we can bring President Talabani via an air ambulance to a hospital in Turkey or just send an air ambulance if they prefer that instead. It is up to the Iraqi officials to review the options we presented them," Erdogan said.
Talabani's office said he was admitted to a Baghdad hospital on Monday night and the 79-year-old president was in stable condition under intensive medical supervision after receiving treatment for blocked arteries.
"He was transferred to hospital late last night after suffering a stroke," a senior Kurdish official said.
Talabani had been suffering from ill health this year and received medical treatment overseas several times in the last two years.
