Baku – APA. A Kyrgyz opposition politician suspected by officials of being part of a plot to overthrow the government has been transferred from house arrest to a detention center, APA reported citing RFE/RL.

The Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security (UKMK) said on June 13 that Dastan Sarygulov had also been charged with corruption allegedly committed while he was director of the Kyrgyzaltyn gold production company from 1992 to 1999.

Earlier in March, the UKMK said that three other suspects in the alleged plot were charged with planning to use force to overthrow the government.

The three opposition politicians are in pretrial detention.

The suspects were arrested and charged after an audio recording circulated on the Internet with voices discussing ways to seize power in Kyrgyzstan.
